The Bushido Dragons were Paul Baribeau on guitar and vocals, Matt Elliot on bass, Mike Lovato on guitar, and John Martinich on drums. From 1996 until early 2001 they were the PREEMINENT surf rock band in Grand Ledge, MI. Born from the smoldering ashes of the Birthday Cakes, the Bushido Dragons quickly made a name for themselves on the Grand Ledge High School open house circuit, playing as many as three in one day (myth has it that on these days the drummer played drums out of the back of a GIANT orange 1977 Dodge Vanagan). Early in the Year 2000 the band was contacted by the PREEMINENT surf rock band of Lansing, MI, Island Uprising. A now legendary show was set up with the Bushido Dragons, Island Uprising, and the Holt band, Abe Froman. The Bushido Dragons would never again be satisfied with the meager surf rock scene of Grand Ledge. The last time the Bushido Dragons played together was January 12, 2001 at the Lower Level Record Shop in East Lansing with the Holt band Canine Sugar and Island Uprising.
The first Bushido Dragons album was recorded in Grand Ledge in the summer of 1999. The second album was recorded in Grand Haven in the summer of 2000. The live performance is from February 19, 2000 in Grand Ledge.
